The Experience at Nailpro Asia by our Grand Nailpro Europe Champion, Jana Janečková
In early June, the finals of Nailpro Asia (@nailprocup_asia) took place in Seoul, South Korea. Last November, after winning the title of European Champion, I was given the opportunity to participate in this prestigious championship in Asia. Do you think I jumped at the chance? Quite the opposite—I spent a long time thinking it over. Thoughts like “You can’t afford it,” “It’s too far,” “Why do you need this?” or “You’d be going alone and you don’t even have a model,” kept convincing me not to go. But finally, thanks to Viktoriia Klopotova, director of Nailpro Europe, and the amazing model Lucie, I decided—just six weeks before the competition—to give it a try. That’s when the craziness began: preparing three tip boxes and training for four on-site nominations. The rules for Nailpro Asia are a bit different, so I had to study them thoroughly and adapt accordingly. It was a completely new experience for me.
Before I knew it, I found myself sitting at the competition table on the other side of the world, competing against the best nail designers from all over Asia. Join me for a glimpse into my Saturday competition day. No photo can truly capture the surreal atmosphere of South Korea. 🇰🇷 The competition was enormous (I was competitor number 240), and the time to complete each task was incredibly short. Are you expecting perfection in competition nails? You won’t find it here. It’s a battle against time, strict criteria, and language and cultural barriers. Honestly, the winner is simply the one who makes the fewest mistakes. 😆
From the technical categories, I won gold 🥇 in Soak Off Gel Application – Green, gold 🥇 in Sculptured Nails, and silver 🥈 in Salon Success – Black. In the Nail Art categories, I earned silver 🥈 for It’s All About the Bling – Mix Media. 🥳 💪
I also competed in the Salon Nail Art (Colors of Olympic) category, where I placed 4th, and in Salon Pedicure Nail Art (Fresh Greenery), where I placed 5th with a solid score of 84.5 points. In the on-site category, It’s All About the Bling, I placed 6th.
My model (who was also a competitor) and I had an amazing time in magical Seoul. We even had some time to relax, do some sightseeing, and immerse ourselves in the beauty of the country and its culture.
I also earned a spot in the Top 10 scorers, and our Czech team—consisting of Lucie Šurkalová Juřenová, Kristýna Rebenda, and myself—placed in the Top 10 teams. Kristýna Rebenda secured 3rd place in the Hand Painted Nail Art category.
